ellen
Ellen is
the Choreographer, and one of the dancers, of the 3minutes.net
collaboration. Her role is creating and rehearsing the dance element
of the collaboration in association with the other group members.
Ellen is also in contact with various funding bodies about sponsorship
for the project.
Biography
Ellen McCarthy is a Perth born dancer/choreographer who started
dance training when she was eight years old. Ellen’s passion
for dance led her to John Curtin College of the Arts where she
was accepted into the specialist dance program and was on the
Student Representative Council (SRC) for four out of her five
years at the college.
She graduated
in the year 2000 as the President of the Student Council, with
certificates of Distinction in Specialist Dance and Specialist
Ballet and gave the valedictory speech at the Year 12 Graduation
Ceremony.
In 2003 she
completed her Bachelor of Arts in Dance (with Distinction), from
the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). During
her final year she was one of the coordinators of the WAAPA 2004
Dance Calendar, a successful, student-run fundraising project.
Ellen was one of three students nominated to speak at the Edith
Cowan University/WAAPA Graduation Ceremony in 2004.
Ellen has
been involved in musical theatre and physical theatre productions,
including Barking Gecko Theatre Company’s Hot Dogs and Ghost
Train, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre Spellbound and H2O, Thin Ice
Productions’ Trading Fates and The Bald Prima Donna, which
won the Fringe Festival Award for Best Performance in 2003. Presently
Ellen is tutoring for Barking Gecko Theatre Company’s ‘Gecko
Bytes’ workshops while organizing a performance at the Don
Russell Performing Arts Centre for March 2005 and working on the
3minutes.net collaboration.

Productions, a choreography company that works with schools
and stages dance performances.
