Biography
Audio Cephlon’s
(aka Greg Lawrence) compositions journey through the futuristic
landscape of electroncia. Greg is also a member of the duo Leonardo's
Robot, creators of the music for the first official 3minutes.net
piece, "Taiko - Salute the Sunset".
Influenced
by the work of artists such as Arovane, Tipper, Metamatics, Aphex
Twin, Autechre, LFO, Future Sound of London, and local West Australian
acts such Sensory Overload and CSU, Audio Cephlon merges atmospheres
with lush melodies, synthetic beats and rhythms.
Audio Cephlon
came into being in 1997 with the purchase of an Ensoniq Mirage
sampler. Since then, he has been released on numerous compilations
throughout Australia.
In 2002, Audio
Cephlon released the Aether compilation on his Kieper Records
label (www.kieper.com.au).
The second Kieper release, the Aether 2 compilation came out in
2004 scoring increased airplay across Australia.
Kieper Records
also gained national and international distribution through Australian
electronica label/distributor CouchBlip! Kieper Record’s
first feature Album ‘Hint’ by Jaek hits the streets
in April 2005.
More recently,
Audio Cephlon has been achieving a greater international profile
gaining airplay on London-based radio station Resonance FM, as
part of the Albino Radio Show (www.albinoradio.com)
and having net releases on UK ambient labels Kahvi (www.kahvi.org)
and Highpoint Lowlife Recordings (www.highpointlowlife.com).
