Kat
was born in Perth, but has lived for much of her adult life in
Sydney and the UK, travelling extensively before settling down
in Perth after meeting her partner Jasper at Art School.
Kat teaches
web development and art/design history and theory at Central TAFE,
and runs a class website for her students katsclass.com.
She also runs a web development business retrokat.com.
In her teens,
Kat moved to Sydney and briefly became a performance artist, doing
spoken word readings with an electronic musician. Many years later,
she exhibited quite successfully as a painter - see kattyb.com.
She has also had two written/artistic works published - a book
of illustrated verse entitled Distorted Reflections, Misconceptions
(1994) and the Golden
Tarot (US Games, 2004).
Kat's principal
role in live performances for the collective will be as co-VJ,
manning the second video mixing desk, ensuring that the camera
streams are working effectively, operating other equipment such
as a DVD recorder and mixing content.
Kat and Jasper
always work as a VJ team, collaborating creatively on the output.
During their time at Art School, Kat and Jasper worked together
on every project, and this partnership has since continued on
other creative projects as it works very well.
Kat's developmental
role in the project will be technical advice regarding video and
the web; experimentation with videography; development of artistic
visual content to blend with live performance; provision of spoken
word material; development, hosting and maintenance of the website;
DVD production.
Kat is primary
contact for anything relating to 3minutes.net's website, webcasting
etc.
