Biography

Lucia Franchina (23yrs) is the vocalist/keyboardist of electronic indie group the Plastik Scene. Released on Kieper Records, Perth based electronic music label, their instrumental electronica demands a second look...

Lucia is also a member of the duo Leonardo's Robot, creators of the music for the first official 3minutes.net piece, "Taiko - Salute the Sunset".

Relatively new to the Perth music scene, Lucia endeavours to combine synth landscapes with bluesy heartfelt vocals. Classically trained as a piano player, she majored in music at UWA. Currently she is improving her natural vocal abilities with the help of one of Perth's premier female jazz divas, Libby Hammer. Lucia will collaborate with The Plastik Scene to release an EP later this year.

The Plastik Scene

In its short and turbulent history The Plastik Scene has strived to move a little beyond the usual boundaries, melding traditional songwriting structures with programmed beats, found noises and general electrotrash. The result is strange, beautiful and entirely distinctive...the current line-up includes founding member, programmer and guitarist Myki, vocalist/keyboardist Lucia Franchina and bassist James Yates.

The Plastik Scene have featured tracks on alchemy radio, 2SER and RTRFM and have been singled out for attention in reviews both locally and interstate including clan analogue's Electroplastique e-zine and the web-based Wobbly Radio. The first single from the group 'Egypt' (currently receiving airplay on RTRFM) has been included on the 'One Night Stand' compilation CD and the internationally released compilation "Reclaim Melody". In early 2004 tracks by the band featured on Kieper Records' 'Aether 2' compilation and the second Semikazi release.
