Welcome
to 3minutes.net, a new project to encourage cross-media collaboration.

2006: 3minutes Tour Spain! See
Media Section for Press Kit
Workshops
are usually scheduled for every month or so, although
in early 2006, the key members are too busy working on
other projects: Ellen is choreographing a show for Festival
of Perth, and Kat and Jasper are developing their Video
Painting workshops for Revelation
Film Festival
which will be held in July 2006, and we're touring to
Spain together in May 2006. That should result in some
new 3mins works.
There
will definitely be a workshop when we return though, and
we encourage all members to be more active in collaborating
online.
If
you're a musician, upload a 3 minute mix to the eGroup
and see what the visuals members can come up with.
Join
the eGroup or email us if you
would like more details about the workshops. The eGroup
is full of useful links, and we post a lot of information
about Festivals, competitions etc you might like to enter. |
The
basic idea of 3minutes.net is to provide a format for short, multimedia
works where artists from different fields collaborate and submit
works that are 3 minutes in duration. We then curate the pieces
and produce DVDs that are a sort of communal showreel for the
participants, and we send them to potential markets and offer
them for sale to the general public.
We
don't charge people to submit works, but then we don't pay participants
either. Your works may or may not be selected for inclusion, depending
on a number of criteria including how well they fit the intention
of the project (collaboration) and the current theme (Light and
Night).
We
do NOT take on any form of copyright for your work, we simply
require a non-exclusive licence to put your work on DVD and/or
the web. If your work is shown, for example, by a TV station as
a result of them being sent the 3minutes.net DVD, then you have
the right to be paid an appropriate fee for usage directly by
the station - that's between you and the TV station. We're simply
aiming to be a facilitator in such relationships by providing
exposure in a neat, pop format to a variety of markets.
Already
3minutes.net collaborations have been successful in arts festivals
and competitions, despite our lack of funding meaning it's been
a pretty small-scale affair. Works have been shown at festivals
in four states, and one piece, Baba Avtomat and the Cylons, was
shortlisted for the Harries National Digital Art Awards in 2005.
See our VJzoo.com
site for more details about our Hybrid
Arts activities, both within the 3minutes.net format and beyond.

before emailing us.
