Local Artists Invited to Perform in Spain!

Bicton dancer/choreographer Ellen McCarthy of Flutterby Productions and North Perth video artists Kat Black and Jasper Cook of VJzoo.com take off in May to Spain, to feature in the Lux2006 Video Art Festival.

On May 13 at The Foundation of the Three Cultures in Seville, the trio will be performing together to a soundtrack of Western Australian music, showcasing interactive dance and video techniques. On May 12 VJzoo will be performing at the Andalusian Centre for Contemporary Art alongside the likes of VJ Anyone and D-Fuse from the UK.

Black and Cook have been working together since 2003, performing as duo VJzoo. They do both commercial VJing and video art and will also be performing in Singapore, New York, and San Fransisco while on this trip. On their return to Perth VJzoo.com will be conducting 'video painting' workshops for the Revelation Film Festival.

McCarthy has been involved in local dance performances since Graduating from WAAPA in 2003 and recently choreographed Barking Gecko Theatre Company's “The Feather Surfers” for the Perth International Arts Festival.

The three artists first collaborated when they founded 3minutes.net in December 2004. 3minutes.net is a worldwide collective of artists focusing on cross-media collaboration to produce three minute multimedia art works. To date, over sixty additional members have since joined and now a broad range of artforms are represented.

The trio's creative collaborations have been very active and several of their collaborative works have been accepted for various Art and Film Festivals throughout Australia, including being shortlisted for the Harries National Digital Art Awards in 2005.

As well as performing at Lux2006 the trio will be filming a short documentary and dance film to be completed on their return to Australia.

More information is available at VJzoo.com flutterby.net.au and 3minutes.net.
